It's a mobile world!
Way back in 2013, we blogged about designing surveys for mobiles where we found that around 50% of people answering our online screening surveys were doing so via their mobile devices.
After collating our most recent survey statistics, we weren’t surprised to find that the rate of our respondents answering these surveys on smart devices has steadily continued to rise and is now consistently well over 60%!
So much has already been written about designing mobile compatible screeners but this was another timely reminder of the importance for survey designs to be as concise as possible to avoid straight line answering, survey fatigue and abandonment resulting in the loss of some potentially great respondents.
What can you do with your surveys to achieve better results?
Reduce long grids - grids render differently on smart devices, so generally speaking, need to be condensed and are a major cause of respondents abandoning the screener
Keep any brand and product lists to a minimum – only list what is really vital for “masking” your product, not for collecting mass data
Limit the total number of questions and open-ended questions – the less the fingers have to do, the better!
AND - remember the screener is only the first stage in THN qualitative recruitment…
All respondents who have made it successfully through the screener will enter the second stage - an in-depth telephone confirmation with our Project Managers to ensure responses are correct and the respondents’ “overall fit” is in line with the project requirements.
